What's up guys?
It's Smash here with your first weekly Indie music update. This summer was huge for the music scene, with lots of sick new releases. With that being said, I'm going to do my best to get you up to speed on records that have just been released, and what's in the making. Hopefully by the end I'll be able to dig up some info on some upcoming shows in the area, but that always proves to be a little bit difficult.
Albums:
Band of Horses: Mirage Rock
What Can I say about this akbum other than the fact that I'm pumped to hear it. So far they've released two singles, Knock Knock, a melodic and upbeat track with your typical indie indie video, a montage of someone's travels throgh the woods, giving you the feeling that you want to run through a grassy field singing your heart out. The second song, Slow Cruel Hands of Time is much more mellow, and sounds a lot like the Avett Brothers and almost makes me want to cry a little bit, but I mean that in the best way possible. Check it out here
The Joy Formidable: Wolf's Law
Houndmouth: Houndmouth EP
I had never listened to this band until I went on a search for some new songs to obsess over this week, and I'm really glad I stumbled across them. They're classified as Pop and Rock/Country Americana, so based on that description alone you get a taste of what you're dealing with here. They're originally from Louisville Kentucky, and they say their biggest influence is The Band. You can check out "Penitentiary," a single off their latest self-titled EP right here! Hopefully you dig it as much as I do.
Keep an eye out for our top 30 chart that i'll post on Friday for more new stuff!
