Angie's Gossip GigaByte

Hey hey girlies and bros,

We are back and kicking as you favorite Italian, Pasta Loving DJ is LARYNGITIS Free!
Lets see what all our favorite celebs are up too this week :)

IN CELEB NEWS........
It was announced that Mary J Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Jill Scott, Florence and the Machine and Jessie J will serve as the star-studded lineup for the long-running concert event, which airs December 19 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on VH1.

Justin Bieber will work with Kanye West and his pal  Drake on his next album.

Back in August, Beyoncé played four hotly hyped, sold-out shows at New York's Roseland Ballroom, the same venue where Radiohead played a two-night stand last month. If you weren't one of the lucky few who snagged a ticket to Beyoncé's celebration of her 4 album, don't worry. The singer will release a new concert DVD, "Live at Roseland," on November 21.

Stay tuned tonight at 5 for another fun filled Pasta Bowl and the saucy celebrity scoop :)

WPNR Mosh Pit!

What's up kids? Here's whats going on in the world of hardcore and metal:

October was a solid, solid month for shows! Hopefully you were able to catch a few of them. I'll do some snooping around and see what I can find for November shows in next week's blog!

Anyone looking to catch Dance Gavin Dance on their tour this fall- sorry to be the bringer of bad news but the band just announced they'll be going on a hiatus and have cancelled that tour. Yes, my boy Jonny Craig is back in jail for possession of narcotics. Bummer but come on, who didn't see this coming?

Be on the lookout for new upcoming releases from Death Before Dishonor, Obituary and Attack! Attack!
and more. I'm sure many bands are gonna be hyping up releases for the new year soon!

Don't forget to tune in to the Moose Mosh every Wednesday at 6! (just not tonight, cause I'll be at the New Found Glory show)

Have a great weak everyone. Mosh hard!

Fly Music Blog

This week in the world of music the king of pop Micheal Jackson is still named Forbes highest earning dead celebrity again. he has held this ranking for two years in a row. In June 2009 he was the second highest paid pop star in the world behind U2 even though he has pasted.

this spring Kanye West will release a G.O.O.D Music album that will contain some songs that didn't make the cut for twisted dark fantasy. There are allot of talented artists in the G.O.O.D Music label so i expect this album to be nothing less then great.

October 25, 2011

Hey guys! it's Becky here with your weekly indie update.

Q Magazine held it's annual award ceremony in London this week. Adele was named Best Female Artist, and "Rolling in the Deep" was named Best Track. Bon Iver won the Q Award for Best Album for his self titled album. Unfortunately, Cold Play won the award for Best Act in the World Today... ick. In much happier news Queen joined the Q Hall of Fame. All I have to say is, it's about time.

Albums

Girl in a Coma is releasing their new album Exits & All The Rest on November 1st. You can pre-order it on iTunes for only $7.99. I gave it a listen yesterday and it is a really great album. The trio of girls have a great unique sound and relatable lyrics. Be sure to check out Exits & All The Rest!

The Audiophile

Hey guys!

It's Ashley here with your weekly Active Rock/ Alternative update, plus my usual interjection of random tidbits of music and random things you probably don't care about very much. I'll start you off by letting you know that today, Monday October 24, 2011 is Bill Wyman (from Rolling Stones) birthday, which if my math is correct makes him 75 years old!

Albums

Kinmya Dawson's new album Thunder Thighs, Deer Tick's Divine Providence, will be released Tuesday October, 25, which to my surprise I found out from AP Magazine despite their typically indie backgrounds.
Yellowcard's newest album When you're Through Thinking, Say Yes (aww how sweet) also drops on the 25th, and is currently available to listen to online as an acoustic version. Don't take my opinion into consideration. Listen for yourself. When You're Through Thinking, Say Yes (acoustic)

Shows

Being a (former) Dirty Heads fan, I feel like I should inform you that they are coming to Northern Lights in Clifton Park on Tuesday October 25, but I am regretted to inform you that they are touring with Gym Class Heroes, so I honestly don't even think it would be worth it.

This Time Next Year, New Found Glory, Set Your Goals, and The Wonder Years will be in Syracuse on October 26.

Well, I suppose that is all I have to say at the moment. Check me out on air with my newly named show "The Hipster 100" (ha-ha-ha) every Tuesday and Thursday at 10!

WPNR Mosh Pit!

What's up ladies and germs? Zach is back with your hardcore, metal and punk news!

Seeing how Every Time I Die is literally all I can think about lately, I'm just gonna ramble about them this work. If you're wondering, no I don't have a weird fetish for Keith (ok, maybe a little) but if you haven't gotten the news they'll be raging Clifton Park Northern Lights THIS SATURDAY. ETID will be supporting GWAR on their Fall Tour. A little depressing news from the band, bass player Josh has left to pursue other interests. In happier news, there's this:

All the more reason for you to come out and rage on Saturday!

DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE STACKED OCTOBER SHOW LINEUP!
  • Friday, October 14th "Polar Bear Club" at Lost Horizon in Syracuse
  • Sunday, October 16th "Alesana" at Northern Lights in Clifton Park

The Indie Fix

Hey Guys!

Just finished listening to the new Tycho album Dive, and I have nothing but good things to say about it. I actually had to listen to it twice because it was so good. If you're into eletro-indie than you absolutely must listen to this album. It is a chill listen to any time. My personal favorite would have to be "Daydream" but every song is awesome and different in it's own way. Dive is now available on iTunes.

Anthony Gonzalez announced that his new M83 album Hurry Up We're Dreaming would be "very, very, very epic." Well sorry Anthony, but it's really not that epic. Granted, it is a pretty decent double album. Yes double. After 74 minutes of the same similar sound, I am ripping my hair out. If you're into that kind of stuff go for it, but don't say I didn't worn you.

Shows
The Goo Goo Dolls - Utica, NY - 10/21
All Time Low - Niagara, NY - 10/23
Infected Mushroom - Clifton Park, NY - 11/18

This week in the world of music Soulja Boy is jailed for drug and weapon charges. Soulja Boy and four of his posy where pulled over for a routine traffic check in Temple, Georgia and were caught with weapons, marijuana and allot of money. the police are not saying how much money or marijuana the 21 year old entertainer had in his Cadillac Escalade. I hope all goes well for Soulja Boy and his friends.

Jay-Z and Kanye West are also in the heat. they are both being sued for sampling Syl Johnsons Different Stokes beat and putting a piece on there new album "Watch The Throne". Kanye West tried to use this beat earlier in his album "Dark Twisted Fantasy" but they were reject and took the song out of the album.

Hey Guys. its Ashley!

Just some news
Last Monday night, (October 10) Cage the Elephant was given he opportunity of a lifetime. Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl stepped in to lend them a helping hand when CTE drummer Jared Champion's appendix burst shortly before the band was supposed to play in Salt Lake City Utah. Dave Grohl heard the news from the band's manager, and offered to fill in. CTE guitarist Lincoln Parish said "I had to pinch myself. I turned around and Dave Grohl is playing the drums. It's an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Nobody can replace Jared. But it's Dave f*****g Grohl. If you're going to be replaced by anybody, it might as well be the best." Dave Grohl replaced Jeff until today, October 17.

Albums
Puscifer's new album Conditions of my Parole drops Tuesday, October 18. The album got five out of five starts, and is said to be one of the most intriguing albums of 2011. I haven't been able to give it a listen, but i'm sure it will be good.

Shows
EVERY TIME I DIE. THIS SATURAY, OCTOBER 22! At Northern Lights in Clifton Park. Theres still time! Or, you could miss out on this:

and this....

Ok, i'm done.
Be sure to tune in every Tuesday and Thursday from 10-11 to hear me on air!

Hey guys Becky here with your weekly indie fix

New Albums
Radiohead just released Tkol Rmx 1234567, a remix of The King of Limbs. Tkol Rmx 1234567 is nothing any Radiohead fan wants to hear. In their endless struggle to try to push their fans away, this album might just be the icing on the cake. If you manage to get through the whole album, you must have a lot of patience. It consists of 19 completely bland tracks that the mixers put absolutely no creativity into. Bottom line, don't waste your time.

The Parlor Mob released an awesome new album called Dogs which is now available on iTunes. They had a great debut a few years ago and now the release of this album is going to help them get to the top. They have a great, upbeat, memorable sound that will grab the attention of anyone who listens to them. "Into the Sun" is available on iTunes for free so be sure to check it out!

That's about all that's going on in the indie world this week, be sure to check out my show every Wednesday at 2 and 5.

WPNR Mosh Pit!

What's up ladies and germs? Zach is back with your hardcore, metal and punk news!

Trapped Under Ice's newest full length "Big Kiss Goodnight" dropped yesterday. I wasn't overly impressed but it's worth a spin. As I Lay Dying announced that their new album will drop on November 8th.  Some pretty exciting news from post-hardcore rockers Make Do And Mend. The band announced they will be releasing an acoustic EP.  Seeing how everything MDAM does is just fantastic, this surely won't disappoint.

Don't forget about that stacked October show lineup!

  • Friday, October 14th "Polar Bear Club" at Lost Horizon in Syracuse
  • Sunday, October 16th "Alesana" at Northern Lights in Clifton Park
  • Tuesday, October 18th "Four Year Strong" at Northern Lights in Clifton Park

Angie Gossip Gigabyte

Hey guys time for another gossip filled gigabyte. Be sure to tune in to the Pasta Bowl on Thursday for another saucy celebrity scoop at 5pm only on 90.7 WPNR radio.

IN CELEB NEWS.....
-Late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs profoundly changed the way we interact with music online. So it makes perfect sense that the O Music Awards 2 will pay musical tribute to Jobs at its October 31 blowout. The show, which will take place in Los Angeles, will feature a special musical nod to the man behind the iPod and iTunes, with a number of up-and-coming artists performing iconic songs in homage to Jobs' huge contribution to digital music culture.

- Beyonce is being accused of rocking a fake baby bump!!
Beyoncé's publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, told ABC News on Tuesday that the allegations are "stupid, ridiculous and false." The rumors were sparked by an appearance Beyoncé made on Australia's "Sunday Night HD" in which her midsection seemed to deflate and fold over in an odd manner when she sat down for an interview while wearing a loose-fitting red dress. The singer is ignoring these rumors and only stated " I dont care what everyone thinks, its real, let people talk."

- The Micheal Jackson Manslaughter trail continues as Conrad Murray took another day in court. Highlights of the day included a taped conversation between Murray and police, and In one of the most shocking moments to date, prosecutors showed an image of Jackson's deceased, naked body on a gurney in the hospital.  The trail will continue for the next couple of weeks.

The Audiophile

Hey guys!

It's Ashley here with your weekly Alternative/Active Rock update.

Albums
There isn't much going on as far as album releases this week, but Deertick's new album Divine Providence drops on October 28, so you can look forward to that. If you think you really can't wait that long, you could always just settle on buying the new Five Finger Death Punch album, but I would strongly advise you against it.

Shows
I've said it before, and i'll say it again: EVERY TIME I DIE at Northern Lights on October 22. Just do it.

What to look out for
Gorillaz are releasing a "Greatest Hits" Collection of their best tracks (well, their singles) titled The Singles Collection: 2001-2011 on November 29. It contains 15 tracks of their singles, videos, and remixes and comes as either a standard CD, a CD/DVD, or a 140 gram vinyl. If you really love Gorillaz, it will also be available in a special edition box set.

Well, thats all from me this week. Be sure to listen to me on air every Tuesday and Thursday from 10-11 a.m. on WPNR 90.7 FM.

Fly Music Blog

This week in the world of music Kanye West making more moves. he is going to remix the song "Lost in the World"off of his twisted dark fantasy album. I'm expecting a good remix coming from Ye. and speaking of Kanye West, Taylor Swift is havong a very successful year she is named Billboard woman of the year.

J. Cole had a very good start with his debut album "Cole World: The Sideline Story," selling 218,000 copies and became the first debut album to have the number 1 spot on the Billboard chart in 2011. The last newcomer to make an impact of there first album was Nicki Minaj.

Elton John? Jonny Depp? Working on a project? possibly, the two sat down for a meal in at a restaurant in west Hollywood and disused working with each other. i am excited to here what comes from this duo.

Thats it for this week Tune in Wednesdays after 8:00PM to here me DJ Dirty Harry

October 6, 2011

Hey guys this is Becky with your weekly indie update.

If you haven’t heard The Naked and Famous’s new EP No Light then you need to get on that. Every song has a different feel and sound but they’re all awesome. The Naked and Famous are quickly becoming popular, their show in Arizona scheduled for September 12th had to be moved to a larger venue due to popular demand. That’s a pretty big deal if you ask me. Many established indie bands don’t run into that issue. Their single “Young Blood” from their album Passive Me Aggressive You is their most popular song but by no means their best. “Punching in a Dream” and their new song “Bells” are both great songs as well.

Mayday Parade released their new album simply titled Mayday Parade and if you couldn’t guess it’s filled with sappy songs of heartthrobs and break ups as usual. The good news is the band is finally learning how to write music without Jason. The album is by Derek’s best but that doesn’t really cut it. The even better news is that there’s a deluxe edition available on iTunes. Who doesn’t want two bonus acoustic songs and a digital booklet?

Upcoming Tour Dates:

The Naked and Famous – October 27th
City and Colour – November 30th

What's up ladies and germs? Zach is back with your hardcore, metal and punk news!

It's always a good day when new music from La Dispute drops. With a "story telling" style similar to that of Defeater, La Dispute are bringing back meaning to lyrics. "Wildlife" has everything that hardcore, punk, (real) screamo, and even indie fans are looking for.  Give 'er a spin.

Alesana has released a bunch of new material. It's awful.

Blessthefall's new album dropped yesterday. That's awful too.

Don't forget about that stacked October show lineup!
  • Sunday, October 9th "The Black Dahlia Murder" at Lost Horizon in Syracuse
  • Friday, October 14th "Polar Bear Club" at Lost Horizon in Syracuse
  • Sunday, October 16th "Alesana" at Northern Lights in Clifton Park
  • Tuesday, October 18th "Four Year Strong" at Northern Lights in Clifton Park
  • Saturday, October 22nd "Gwar and Every Time I Die" at Northern Lights in Clifton Park
  • Saturday, October 22nd "Agnostic Front" at Bogies in Albany
  • Monday, October 24th "Thoughts In Reverse" at Lost Horizon in Syracuse
  • Friday, October 28th "Restless Streets" at Valentines in Albany

And don't forget to check out my Pop Punk show with my good friend and colleague Vikki, Mondays at 4!
Also, the Moose Mosh is back TODAY and every Wednesday at 6pm! Tune in and rage.

Until next week. Mosh Hard- Zach
