Hey everyone!

Again, this week’s album again comes from the Midwest from singer/songwriter Elisabeth Maurus, more well known by her stage name, Lissie.  She has released two EPs since 2007 and has finally put out her debut album, Catching a Tiger, on Columbia Records.  The vocals are intense, the music simple and together it makes for a whirlwind of a record.  At times, the record tends to sound more country than folk, but the emotional connection that Lissie shows throughout the songs (see: the bridge of the record opener Record Collector), makes the album a recommendation for people who appreciate any kind of music.

Overall, a great pop/folk album and it’s out now in record stores and on iTunes so check it out! And if you’re not 100% sold yet, check out iTunes single of the week and click back to the week of December 26th and you’ll be able to grab yourself a copy of When I’m Alone, the first single off the album.

Until next week!

Pion-indie!'s Find of the Week!

Fact Sheet
Band:  The Dopamines
Album:  Expect the Worst (2010)
Genre:  Pop-Punk/Indie
Rating:  4/5 stars
Like Saves the Day, Lifetime, Descendants? You'll like The Dopamines!

Hey guys!

This week’s album comes from the Midwest from The Dopamines.  This trios latest album, Expect the Worst came out in 2010 on the Plastick end of Paper and Plastick Records.  Heavy, yet quick and exciting guitar riffs flow throughout the entire album.  Smart lyrics keep listeners on their toes, finger poised on the rewind button in anticipation of did-they-really-just-say-that euphoria that often accompanies the brash lyrics of many great pop-punk acts.  The album is comparably similar to 90’s pop-punk, specifically Saves the Day’s 1999 album Through Being Cool. It’s available on iTunes and in record stores nationwide, so definitely check it out!
