What floats my boat

Breaking Dawnnnnn
This thanksgiving weekend treated the box office very well. The box office was breaking records between “Twilight Breaking Dawn part 2”, “Lincoln”, and “Sky fall” the box office pulled in millions of dollars. Twilight bought in 43,070,000, Sky Fall bringing in 36,000,000, and in third place Lincoln with 25,020,000 dollars. Not bad for just three days. I personally went to go see Twilight this weekend, and I must say I was not disappointed. I laughed and I cried, and those two emotions make a great movie.  But one thing that stood out for me was the soundtrack. Twilight is known for creating amazing soundtracks
Remember “Decode” by Paramore for the first movie, played that song every day!!! New Moon was filled with new artist and some very seasoned artist like Muse, and Death Cab for Cutie.  Eclipse had many more indie artists, and one song that caught my heart was “My Love’ BY Sia . It was played in the scene when Edward and Bella are heavily making out on the bed, when we all thought they were finally going to get it in. But they didn’t lol
In the first part of Breaking Dawn the songs were repeats from former movies. The situation   was right since it was the beginning to the end. My personal favorite soundtrack has to be the Breaking Dawns second part. The songs are amazing, so passionate and fit the movie completely
.  One of my favorites is A Thousand Years, Pt. 2 (feat. Steve Kazee) - Christina Perri  , which was used in the end when Bella is allowing Edward to see all her memories she has ever had between them. Let’s say because of this song I cried so hard. One other song I love is “Heart of Stone” by IKO .
Twilight might be over, but the DVD will come out soon, and the music will forever live on. !!! I am proud to say I am and will always be a twi heart !!!!!

Brace Yourselves...

What's up dudes? Jamie from the Metal CATS bloggin' at ya. It's almost halfway through November, which means that a new year is approaching. This means that there's going to be stacks on stacks of top metal records of 2012 plaguing the internet.

Brace yourselves for all of the different opinions and battles over who wrote the best album of 2012. I could have just totally made an offensive meme off a meme generator site with that picture, but I decided not to... so yeah.
I'm writing this blog to roughly estimate who is going to be on these lists and also who I think deserve to be on the lists.

First of all, one album that I think more than deserves to be on these lists, is Autotheism by The Faceless. It's possible that I think this is the best cd of 2012 thus far. The whole cd is just an absolute masterpiece in every metal aspect. ...just listen and see why.

Another band that will make these lists is Between the Buried and Me with their latest release, The Paralax II:Future Sequence. This cd, too should make these lists because of the musical ingenuity of the band. Now I only got the cd a week or two ago, but it has been one hell of a progressive death metal cd if you ask me.Take a listen.

Unfortunately, if you ask me, the new Pig Destroyer cd will most likely make these lists. The cd is called Book Burner and I've listened to a couple of the songs off of it and I was far from impressed. I feel like people will somehow enjoy weirdness of this whole cd. The record is pretty heavy and all and has some bang your head moments, but all it takes are some disgusting sounding, edited hardcore vocals absolutely to ruin the cd. Listen to the vocals at 1:21 in their official video to their song the diplomat and you will hear what I am talking about.

One band that I think 100% deserves to make all of these lists is Enslaved for their latest release, RIITIIR which is a progressive piece of art. Enslaved really outdid themselves with this cd. They added a lot of different aspects of both black metal and progressiveness. The clean vocals by Ivar Bjornson have improved a lot since Ruun and their past records. Now there is a lot of clean singing on this cd, but don't worry cause it all sounds rad. The clean vocals are complimented with eerie black metal growls.  I love this cd and listen on a regular basis, so you should too... I know what's best, guys.

Black metal kings, Cradle of Filth with their new cd, The Manticore and Other Horrors will almost positively make it on most official top metal cds lists. I'm not so sure that I would put them on any of my lists, but they are my boss's favorite band so it's okay. I feel like the cd is very melodic and Dani Filth's vocals sound very folk metal-ly (I just made 'metal' an adjective.) Here, take a listen for yourself.

It literally hurts my hands to type this.......but....... I think that copycat djent dudes, Periphery, will make these lists. Their new cd Periphery II has been getting a lot of praise lately, for only god knows why.. They sound like any awful djent band that tries to sound like Meshuggah. BUT, they try and compliment it with disgusting preteen high-pitched singing. This kind of stuff appeals to 13 year old scene girls, if you ask me. Listen at the risk of your own ears.

Well, that concludes my ranting or whatever. These are just some of the bands that I think will make top lists of metalheads around the world for their cd releases in 2012. I could be totally wrong but I don't have all day to think about this kind of stuff- I'm attempting to be a college student in the meantime. So, I'll let you guys and myself be. ALSO, ALL OF THIS IS MY OPINION AND IF I OFFENDED ANYONE, I AM SINCERELY SORRY.

Thanks for the read (if you actually read the whole thing) and good riddance!

What Floats My Boat <(:)

The Weekend
The artist Abel Tesfaye well known as The Weekend had been on the radar for some time. He is well known for being featured on Drakes album in the song “Crew Love”.  He was born and raised in Canada, just like Drake. The Weekend started to upload songs on YouTube in early 2011; in March 2011 he released his album “House of Balloons”.  The Weekend is currently under Universal Republic Records, and under his own label the well-known XO.
In the album “House of Balloons” some of my favorite songs are “High for this” which Ellie Goulding did a cover for.  Another song I like is “What you Need” the whole album has this mellow feel to it. I can describe it as slow jams mixed with sick beats that make you want to pop. “The Zone” feat Drake is one of the songs that you can play on repeat and not get annoyed. But that is the case for the whole album.

I’m very interested to see what else this artist has in store, because in less than a year the weakened has created a huge fan base. But yet the songs have not been on the top 100 billboard charts. This artist needs more acknowledgment for creating music that will define a generation.
