Morning!
It's Ashley with your weekly update about what's new in the alternative music world. What's great about this week in particular is that it's finally FALL, which is in my opinion, the best time to go catch a show.
This weekend, artists like Arcade Fire, who's set included favorites like "No Cars Go" and "Wake Up," and My Morning Jacket, who rocked the crowd with "Wordless Chorus" gathered in Texas to play the 10th Annual Austin City limits festival. The festival was three days long with music from hip-hop to folk to blues and rock, and a few long waited rain showers that Texans celebrated as it marked the end of a horrible drought.
Although I maye not be a die-hard fan, Blink 182's Neighborhoods Album drops September 27, and is said to be Blink's darkest album. The band's brief breakup, the death of producer Jerry Finn, and close friend Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein, and the plane crash that injured the band's own Travis Barker have all manifested themselves into this 49 minute reflection of 8 rough years. With that being said, it is safe to say they willl never forget how to write an upbeat chorus line. Also be sure to check out one of my personal favorites, Bright Eyes with their newest album The People's Key. It's filled with Conor Oberst's usual brilliance, and i'm sure anyone who is a fan will enjoy it.
I'll be on the air on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m.-11a.m. so be sure to tune in to WPNR 90.7 Utica College Radio!
See Ya!
-Ash
