Welcome back guys!

I hope everyone had a fun and restful winter break, because it’s time once again for The Audiophile on WPNR’s Pioneer Playlist.

• ·         Alternative Press released a photo gallery of Thursday’s final American show in Philadelphia, P.A. You can watch it here, and I suggest you bring a box of tissues.

• ·         I didn’t find much this week as far as new releases, as I’m trying to get back into the swing of things. Unwritten Law just released a video for their song “Superbad” and it’s horrible. With a classic like “Seein’ Red”, I expected a little bit more. Don’t waste your time on it.

• ·         Guster will be at The Egg in Albany on Wednesday, March 28. 

 

I’m stoked to let you guys know that Manchester Orchestra is performing tomorrow (Tuesday January, 24) on Last Call with Carson Daily. I may be biased since I’m a huge fan of the band, but I have honestly never heard these guys come out with a bad song, and I’m sure fellow fans would agree. Their newest album Simple Math dropped on May 9, and it seems as if it merely slipped under the indie music radar. Lead singer Andy Hull is to say the least a lyrical genius, crooning you into a lovesick oblivion with lyrics like “I imply to mitigate the guilt we could align a perfectly constructed alibi to hush the violent guilt that eats and never dies in actual blame, they called me once the dark divide” from their song “Simple Math.” Don’t let them fool you into thinking they’re just another soft-spoken indie chick oriented band. They have a haunting power that they proudly display in the song “Virgin” that any manly man could get into. Be sure to check them out!

Be sure it tune into 90.7 FM on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5 to hear me and my good friend Becky on air bringing you lots of indie, alternative, a little hardcore and dubstep, and I’ll keep you posted about when I’ll be on air with this semester’s Hipster 100.
