The Weekend
The artist Abel
Tesfaye well known as The Weekend had been on the radar for some time. He is
well known for being featured on Drakes album in the song “Crew Love”. He was born and raised in Canada, just like Drake.
The Weekend started to upload songs on YouTube in early 2011; in March 2011 he
released his album “House of Balloons”. The Weekend is currently under Universal
Republic Records, and under his own label the well-known XO.
In the album “House of Balloons” some
of my favorite songs are “High for this” which Ellie Goulding did a cover for. Another song I like is “What you Need” the
whole album has this mellow feel to it. I can describe it as slow jams mixed
with sick beats that make you want to pop. “The Zone” feat Drake is one of the
songs that you can play on repeat and not get annoyed. But that is the case for
the whole album.
I’m very interested
to see what else this artist has in store, because in less than a year the weakened
has created a huge fan base. But yet the songs have not been on the top 100
billboard charts. This artist needs more acknowledgment for creating music that
will define a generation.
