The Audiophile

What's up Guys?

It's that time again for your weekly alternative/active rock update!
Albums
Post-hardcore group Jamie’s Elsewhere’s latest album Reimagined EP drops February 14th, and I definitely advise you to check them out. This is the first record I’ve heard from this band, and by first glance of the cover, I wasn’t expecting much. I understand they’ve experienced many changes in lineup, and sound so that may be expected on future records but I was pleasantly surprised when I heard lead singer Aaron Pauley’s sincere yet solid vocals, and the wide range of instruments that can be heard on each track. I particularly enjoyed the song “I’ll make my Peace and Sink” for its attitude and swelling breakdowns, but the song “Out of Love” is sure to break and girl’s heart. (In a good way)

Of Montreal’s anticipated album Paralytic Stalks hits the shelves on February 7. I heard the track “Wintered Debt” and I have to say I was mainly confused. There is just too much going on that doesn’t make sense. Pitchfork gave the album an overall rating of 4.6, and as a trusted source I would have to agree. However, if you find yourself a loyal fan of course I wouldn’t try to turn you against buying an album. If you end up not liking it, just give it to your grandfather and call it disco.

Silverstein’s album “Short Songs” also drops February 7, and I’m stoked to hear it. The album will contain covers as well as original songs that are all under 90 seconds. A video preview of the making of the album is available on their website and on YouTube, and from what I can tell this is going to be an album you don’t want to miss.
