The Audiophile

Hey guys,

It's that time once again for your weekly alternative/active rock update!

News
The Mars Volta just released the song "The Malkin Jewel" from their latest album Nocturniquiet  which drops on March 27. I gave it a listen here, and was quite impressed even though this track was much more relaxed than what i'm used to hearing from them. Usually the frequencies of Cedric's voice can barely be heard by human ears, so this was a change, but still a solid jam. I'm excited to hear what kind of sound they embody on this album.

The lineup for this year's Bonnaroo will be announced tomorrow (Feb. 14) on Spotify. I know Tennessee is quite a trek but you have until June so check it out! If you are actually ever able to go i'll be extremely jealous of you.

albums
Nada Surf's new album The Stars are Indifferent to Astronomy was just reviewed by Alternative Press, and given 4 stars was cute, if anything. I'm just not really into the whole power-pop scene, but it wasn't awful so if you're into that kind of thing check it out.

Every Time I Die's Ex-Lives. I've been talking about it for quite some time, but be on the lookout. My prediction is that it will be one of their best records yet.

Shows
Go see EVERY TIME I DIE in Syracuse on the 14th! They'll also be at Northern Lights in Clifton Park on Thursday, the 16th, and the 17th in Brooklyn. Go see them three times.

Well, that's all I have for today. Tune in Mondays at 10 for The Hisper 100 and Wednesdays at 5 for The Identity Crisis with me, and Becky on WPNR 90.7 FM!
